I love affirmations and use “oracle” decks to provide a positive boost in the morning or whenever I need a lift.  It’s my way of telling the Universe I’m open to listening to their message:  “Have at it!”  “I’m listening!”  “Tell me more!”  I hope you enjoy as I introduce some of my favorite cards and quotes in my newsletters!  These make great gifts for any occasion as well as can be used as inspirational hand-outs in class if you are a yoga instructor.

I’ve owned this deck for several years. Regular readers of my newsletter know that I love dream messages. I’ve dedicated a couple of my newsletters to dreams. This deck will enable you to work even more deeply with your dreams. There are numerous ways to use these cards. You can use the cards in-depth or keep it basic and pull one card randomly.

The description from Amazon is quite long because the deck is just that comprehensive! You won’t be disappointed! See the Dreamwork2000.com website referenced below for more information and to interact with these amazing cards yourself!

Description:

The following is taken from the excellent accompanying book with my own additional interpretation toward the end:

“Chapter One

THE MAJOR TOOLS

The Dream Cards package contains most of the major tools you will need to begin your work on your dreams, to learn what they may teach you about your life and your attitudes and behavior in it. The system can be simple and direct in its application to dreams and your life, yet it is capable of generating considerable depth of insight and “right action” because it is also comprehensive.

THE DREAM CARDS

The Dream Cards comprise a deck of 66 square cards, 49 of which have a main central image surrounded by eight secondary images reflecting the central theme of that card. These images come mostly from specific dreams of people who have been active dreamworkers for a long time. Some of the images are from the author’s own meditative state, based on his knowledge of around 10,000 dreams of his own and those of other people with whom he had worked over the past 20 years.

There are seven cards in the seven archetypal suites representing the outstanding energy dynamics of life and dreams. The archetypal suites are SOURCE, MASCULINE, FEMININE, HEROIC, ADVERSITY, JOURNEY, and DEATH — REBIRTH. Their arrangement and relationship to each other, and to the other Dream Cards, forms the basis of his Archetypal Model which is explained in the accompanying book. It is enough to know at this point that the key to the whole system is that archetypal images (symbols) represent specific archetypal dynamics. There is one Dream Card for every major archetypal dynamic, each with pictorial representations of the most commonly dreamed archetypal images or symbols.

In addition to these 49 cards there are ten Ego cards, each of which also carries nine symbolic images, eight secondary surrounding one central. The ego is a particular function in the personality which uses archetypal dynamics but it is different from them in two basic ways.

The ego has choice, the ability to send energy in one direction and not another. An archetype does not have choice. It just exists as a basic building block of the psyche and the universe. The archetypes would go on functioning in various ways whether humankind with his or her ego were around or not. Secondly, the ego has consciousness, the ability to self-reflect, which the archetype does not have. The archetype just is.

The remaining seven Dream Cards are the Personification Cards, each one associated with one of the archetypal suites. Instead of representing one specific archetypal dynamic or “great image” with its secondary images, each Personification Card depicts four mask-like faces or “personifications” attributable to its archetypal suite. The 28 personifications have been chosen as the outstanding expressions in human form of the seven basic archetypes, and represent those most appearing in dreams and cultural expressions. Thus we have four forms of THE CHILD within the SOURCE archetype, four sub-personalities within the larger personality. At various times these roles will be dominant in our behavior, if only for a moment or two.

THE DREAM CARD CHARACTERISTICS CHART

This chart shows the organization of the Dream Cards into the seven archetypal suites plus the Ego suite. For each, a representative primary dynamic is given, along with overall color scheme, symbolic shape, personality trait and choice.

THE WISDOM CARDS

The Wisdom Cards comprise a deck of 66 rectangular cards, one for each Dream Card. Each Wisdom Card is numbered to match its Dream Card and shows its archetype and the archetypal primary dynamic (always shown in capital letters) it represents at the top.” (See below for text, image, and concept copyright notation.)

What follows is my take on the Wisdom cards:

To me, the Wisdom Cards interpret the Dream Card’s message. In my own experience, I round out the interpretation using the intuitive messages the card evokes for me. The cards help you consider possible reasons the dream images have appeared in your dreams. The neat thing about these cards is that in addition to an interpretation, they also provide a “dream-life task” that will help you work with your dreams. How cool is that? You will not only understand your dreams better, but will be able to do something with the messages. I can just hear the Universe sighing with relief. Can’t you?

THE SYMBOL GLOSSARY

The Glossary in the accompanying book contains a wealth of information on dream symbols as well as explains the concepts the author depicts in the cards.

THE DREAM JOURNAL

The author recommends a dream journal, as have I when I’ve shared my dream messages in previous newsletters. When you record what the Universe is telling you, the Universe sees that you are open to the messages and will increase the frequency of the messages in my experience.

I chose the following example from the “Source” archetype since the symbolic shape was a circle, representing wholeness. It  contains a mandala highlighted earlier in the Meditation on the Go section. The messages also resonated with me. I hope you enjoy!

Corresponding Wisdom Card for Dream Card #1  front and back side information:

Centering

Central Image

At the center of centers shines the pattern

Balancing * Intersection * Essence

The center is the fulcrum point around which the opposites unite.

The center creates the universe and all which surrounds it, balancing everything, one totality, the greatest mystery, the ultimate, the place from which the ALL continually takes its being. Through we must see ourselves as a center, our true center is what makes our existence possible. We affirm circles of relatedness. And from our circles we honor center, our place of origin.

Your task is to affirm yourself as a child of the universe, seeking always the balance point from which to live.

Secondary images

  • Altar …Worship, Spiritual Focus

The sacred area has flowers and a whitened shell.

Aimless wandering and endless anxiety come to those who seek not a center greater than themselves.

Humble yourself by focusing on more important things.

  • Fountain…Source, Renewal

Water rises high in the garden.

Source runs full when we are available to it.

Know your thirst, seeking what can fulfill it.

  • Dance…Celebrating, Joy

They move around the symbol of their joy.
We are only fulfilled by what is greater than ourselves.

Celebrate by letting go to others who can help you center.

  • Candle…Illumination, Affirmation

A candle burns at the center.

Evoke center to find your way in life.

Find the value in each possibility you live this day.

  • Meditation…Commitment, Purification

The seeker is burned away by his stillness.

True silence is the one song worth singing.

Let go of everything until you find what frees you from yourself.

  • Apple Core…Simplicity, Essence

The cut apple reveals its core.

It matters less what you do then how you do it.

Be aware of how you do things, not why or for what.

  • Rose Window…Intersecting, Mysterious

The rose window is put into place.

The essence of spirit is to use our lives for what is greater than life.

Ask yourself, who or what is greater than I am?

  • Comet…Originator, Magnificence

The comet arrives manifesting brilliance.

The readiness for anything prepares us for everything.

Find in each day that which inspires awe.

The following is the “interactive” message for this card given online:

1 – CENTER

Your choice is to center yourself within that which has greater value. Why resist when life has so much to offer?

Resisting opportunities because we are stuck in our images of wanting something else is folly. Go with reality, not against it. When you resist you use up your energy. Go with things as they are and create with them. The ego is being tested to follow what is wanted from it.

Ascended Masters Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D

Written by Sandy. Posted in: Featured Card Deck and Quote
Comments Off on Ascended Masters Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D Tagged with

I chose this month’s deck after I decided to include Isis in my newsletter.  (See the Chakrascope section above.)  Doreen Virtue’s cards and books (of which I own many) have piqued my interest in Egyptian lore, among many, many other subjects!  Doreen introduced me to the magic of Isis, Thoth, and the Eye of Horus featured in the Chakrascope section.  Enjoy getting to know Isis and Horus a little better as the featured cards for yourself!

Description:  By popular demand, Doreen Virtue has created a beautiful deck of cards based on her best-selling book Archangels & Ascended Masters. (Yes I own that too!  Great book!  And it has even more about Isis, Horus, and Thoth!) The deck includes gorgeous paintings of 44 male and female cross-cultural deities, such as Ganesha, Merlin, Saint-Germain, Apollo, Pallas Athena, White Buffalo Calf Woman, Jesus, Moses, Yogananda, Green Man, and Kuthumi. The enclosed guidebook gives expanded explanations of each card’s meaning, and a brief history of each ascended master. As with each of Doreen’s oracle-card decks, the messages for each card are positive, accurate, and life-affirming.

Card #1:  You Are Seeing the Situation Accurately—Horus

Trust your feelings about this situation, because they are accurate and valid.  Let go of self-doubt, even in the face of others’ opinions.  Your spiritual sensitivity has helped you see the truth.  Although it may be easier to go along with the crowd, or to shrink to apathy, you’re called upon to take decisive action.  You already know what to do.  Even if people aren’t supporting you, know that Spirit is.  Other people will soon come around to your point of view.  In the meantime, assume a leadership role.

Additional meanings for this card:  Trust your intuition and gut feelings.  Ignore critics, naysayers, or skeptics.  Avoid situations or relationships that don’t feel right to you.  Only you know what is correct for you.

Horus is the Egyptian falcon-headed sky and sun god whose parents were Osiris and Isis.  He was conceived after his mother brought his father back from the dead with the help of the sun god, Ra.  One of Horus’s eyes was injured during a battle of revenge for this father’s death.  This is why Horus is represented with one large and clear-seeing eye.  You can call upon Horus for help with spiritual or physical sight, including insight into the truth about situations.

Card #2:  Balance Career and Home Life—Isis

You drew this card as a reminder to keep balance in your life. You can do this more easily than you may imagine.  You already know which part of your life is lopsided, and you may be feeling symptoms of burnout from this imbalance.  You can rapidly shift your energy in positive ways by devoting time each day to your priorities.  Even 30 minutes a day spent in meaningful ways will lift your mood, moral, and motivation.

Additional meanings for this card:  Play is a much-needed requirement for you right now.  Make sure that your needs are being met.  Delegate work to others.  Say no to unrealistic demands upon your time.  Be honest with yourself and keep healthy boundaries in your work and home life.  Spend more time devoted to activities that make your heart sing with joy.

Isis demonstrated a perfectly balanced life as a great spiritual teacher and devoted wife and mother (to Osiris and Horus, respectively). Isis is a much-revered Egyptian goddess who symbolizes feminine strength and power.  She can help you find enough time and energy to enjoy all aspects of your life, if you’ll ask for her assistance.

Harmony ANGEL Cards by Angela McGerr

I love affirmations and use “oracle” decks to provide a positive boost in the morning or whenever I need a lift.  It’s my way of telling the Universe I’m open to listening to their message:  “Have at it!”  “I’m listening!”  “Tell me more!”  I hope you enjoy as I introduce some of my favorite cards and quotes in my newsletters!  These make great gifts for any occasion as well as can be used as inspirational hand-outs in class if you are a yoga instructor.

I chose this month’s deck because it answered a long-standing question I’d had about a quick chakra reading Cyndi Dale had given me.  See the “Chakrascope” section above for more.

This deck refers to a second heart chakra that’s magenta.  I had “pulled” the “Sacred Lotus Flower Card” which I’m highlighting below.  I found a second card referencing the magenta heart chakra and am highlighting that as well for emphasis.  The art on this deck alone is inspiring, as you can see.  The author’s insight is priceless. I show both the back side (the “suit”) of the cards as well as the beautiful front sides and then give you the description of the cards from the accompanying book.

The Sacred Lotus Flower.
The card of innermost healing and love:  the Heart Chakra

Legend has it that the lotus was the first flower to beautify the earth; it is therefore considered sacred.  Rooted in earth, growing in water, and opening each morning to air and sun, the flower links to all four elements and because part of its mystery is hidden, it also represents quintessence and ancient wisdom.  It is also a symbol of spiritual rebirth and eternity, the key to which is the love in your own heart.  There are two heart chakras, and you must work on these chakras with the help of Pistis Sophia and Haniel.

The green chakra represents love of a personal nature, i.e. of partner, friends, and family.  Perhaps this has been closed or damaged by rejection or loss.  The angels help you resolve pain with forgiveness, reopening and healing the green chakra, enabling you to move to the magenta chakra.  This encompasses pure, universal love, which has no self-interest but merely seeks to serve all life.  When you can feel universal love, you ignite your heart’s ember into a magenta flame, which soars heavenward to reconnect you with the golden (Maitreya) ray of divine love.  This love flows back to your heart, into your innermost consciousness, opening the gateway to Higher self and filling you with joy and bliss beyond imagining.

Haniel, Angel Ruler of Friday, Venus, and the Emerald and Magenta Rays.
The card of love, compassion, and beauty

Haniel’s card teaches that there are two kinds of love and so two heart chakras in ou7r body.  The first is love of a personal nature, the love you have for a partner, friends, family and yourself; this is strengthened by Haniel’s emerald ray which powers the green chakra.  Jade can help to balance relationships and heal quarrels, while malachite defuses situations.

The other love is the magenta ray of unconditional love and compassion for all things on Mother Earth, whatever their faults, as made by the Creator.  It does not judge and has no limits.  It radiates to and from the pink heart chakra of universal love, bridge between Lower and Higher self.

Haniel suggests you heal your heart with these rays of love by appreciating the beauty within yourself and all things.  Increase self-fulfillment through finding ways of expressing love, and celebrate your existence by creating your own form of beauty around you.  Let this beauty infuse your spirit, choosing rose quartz or tourmaline to enhance this loving energy, so that it surrounds you with calm and lights you with radiance from within, inspiring others to want it for themselves.  Haniel reminds you that Love is all you need.

Description:  This Angel Card set was first published in 2002 and is as valid today as it was then. It’s for those who wish to start to change their lives by working with angels every day, in other words to seek spiritual expansion through communing daily with angels (the principle of Angelology). Can be used on its own, or with the later card sets (Heart & Soul and Love & Light) for more profound and deeper guidance.

A reading with the Harmony Angel Cards will give you future direction if that is what you seek. However, more importantly, it will show you the way to heal problem areas for yourself and your loved ones, paving the way to spiritual development, so that you can make the connection from your Lower to your Higher Self by opening your heart to unconditional love.

These cards will indicate:

  • The main angels to enrich your daily life towards wholeness
  • The angels supporting you towards self-fulfillment in life
  • Your personal angel pathway to harmony of mind, body and spirit
  • The symbols you need for healing and spiritual re-birth

There are 48 Harmony Angel Healing Cards divided into four suits of 12. Each suit comprises a special master card, plus eleven other cards. You can choose various layouts involving some or all of the different suits. Several spreads are detailed, showing one card, three and four cards, the sacred seven and finally the sacred twelve spread.

Remember that when invoked from the heart with loving intent the angels will bring their special energy to you, to help you towards physical and spiritual wholeness. This involves healing and harmonizing all body energy chakras. Another way of saying this is that any healing required in your Lower (physical) Self should be addressed before moving towards healing your heart chakras, which in turn are the bridge to your Higher (spiritual) Self. This may take a little time and practice, but the more you open towards universal love and angelic energy the more you will receive. Making the Higher Self connection integrates you to the collective consciousness or the All, bringing you into a state of inner peace to which you can always return..

I featured “KUNDALINI BLESSING ORACLE CARDS”, from Gurudarshan Khalsa in my May 2011 newsletter https://betterdayyoga.com/tag/may-2011.  She used my newsletter to highlight her cards on another Kundalini Yoga website:  http://www.spiritvoyage.com/blog/index.php/kundalini-blessings-meditations-for-the-aquarian-age.  My love affair with her works continues this month with the next Kundalini Blessings deck produced by Gurudarshan Khalsa! called “Innerspeak™” created by Jean Adrienne.

Description:

InnerSpeak™ Cards are Today’s Tool For Clearing, Releasing & Healing Karmic Blocks!  Are you ready to break free from old programs, belief systems and repeating behaviors that sabotage your success in any area of your life? This tool helps you figure out where you set these blocks up so that you can let them go once and for all time. This 72 card deck comes with an instruction booklet to guide you through the clearing process, but they are more than a deck of cards – they are a complete modality for releasing karmic blocks from this lifetime, past lives and your ancestors.

The book explains how to use the cards.  It starts with an important element to using these cards—surrender. Without surrender, the cards will not be effective. You are advised to surrender to your Higher Power, Spirit or God/Goddess and ask for help in looking at what needs to be cleared for your highest and best good and the highest and best good of all.  After you have said a little prayer or set your intention to release the block, you can choose your cards.

All the colors are used except for the Indigo cards which are only used if the Red card—the “SOURCE” card—reflects a Past Life card.  You pull at least one card from each of the other colors with two cards pulled from Orange and three cards pulled from Green.

  • The two Orange cards reflect what/who SET UP the block.  That’s how you start your “excavation” of your block.
  • It moves on to the Yellow cards which tell you the effect the SET UP “traumas” had on the SOURCE of your block—ie the source of your block had a trauma and that trauma affected them.  The Yellow cards explain that.
  • The Blue cards indicate the belief that is now stuck inside of your Inner Self because of the block and any associated SOUL REACTIONS.
  • The three Green cards give you instructions on removing your blocks—like a visualization or a prayer.

One of my instructions, for example, recommended calling in an angel and asking for help.  The booklet suggested you can ask your Guardian Angel or one of the Archangels.  “They are always waiting to assist us but they never interfere in our free will unless we call upon them.  They are overjoyed to help us when we ask!”  I chose Archangel Michael.  My Dad was a “Michael” and I have always had a strong connection to Archangel Michael as a result.  (Recall from the opening section that in Poland they name their children for the saint’s feast day closest to your date of birth.  My Dad was named after Archangel Michael.) The booklet has further clarification on the cards as well.

  • Finally, the Violet card is pulled as your blessing for having completed all three Green card “clearing” instructions.  Mine, for example, was “Angel Blessing— Centeredness & Calmness ~ Enabling You to See and Accomplish Your Purpose.”  It was like getting a warm hug and soothing pat on the head from the Universe.

The very first time I used these cards, I had immediate tears as the “reading” unfolded.  Sometimes you think you know your block, but to have it explained to you can create emotions you didn’t know existed; and they release.  Seriously, this was just a few minutes and the cards unearthed “something” deep inside.  They get to the heart of the matter very quickly.  If you’re a fan of my “Featured card/deck section” you know I have a whole heck of a lot of cards.  These cards are unlike most of the cards I own because they are more interactive and personal.  You work on something holding you back and it gives you steps to take to help remove and overcome that.  Very powerful!

I didn’t feel the need to ask for further clarification on any of the cards that presented themselves.  They were that spot-on for me.  If you want more information or clarification, she even suggests a couple of options to try such as muscle testing or the use of a pendulum.

She ends with another “Very Important!” note:  “It is gratitude that actually accomplishes a clearing.  Always thank your Angels and Guides, as well as your Higher Power when you have completed a session with these cards!  Additionally, visualize how the clearing of the block looks in your life.  Feel it, smell, and taste it.  Create for yourself now, the reality you desire in your mind—own it with every one of your senses.”

I picked them up on State Street in Madison at my often featured new age bookstore, Mimosa’s http://www.mimosaspirit.com/.  If you’re ever in Madison, you won’t want to miss stopping in!

This month’s topic focuses on watching the thoughts in your mind and analyzing where they come from to determine if they’re a habit you want to keep.  I thought this card about our thoughts fooling us and becoming the master of our thoughts was the perfect sentiment for the month. This card even touches on using comic relief as part of the solution.  Perfect card for the month!  I show the front and back of one card then list the guidebook’s explanation for the card.  The photos on the back side of these cards are absolutely beautiful.  The photos themselves could be used as a contemplative focus.  The words of Buddha and the guidebook explanation have been a constant source of wonder for me.  Enjoy!

Dharma Cards

Product Description:  This beautifully designed set offers a simple approach to meditation, as well as an enjoyable way to learn about one of the world’s great masters. Based on Gautama Buddha’s Dhammapada or Way of Truth, the kit includes not only 36 illustrated cards inscribed with the Buddha’s wisdom, but also an illuminating guidebook; together, they’ll help create spiritual harmony in your life. The guide provides an introduction to the Buddha: his birth, search, enlightenment, Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, and much more. It also features information to help you interpret the cards, along with in-depth, individual readings of their text. As you go through the cards, you’ll begin to reflect on the questions all meditators ask—about awareness, distractions, serenity—and find encouragement when you feel disheartened.

About the Author:  Priya Hemenway lived in India for many years, where she studied Eastern thought and philosophy, meditation and Oriental sacred scriptures. She has written many books for Barnes & Noble including The Little Book of Eastern Wisdom and The Little Book of Saints.

Card verbiage on back:

 (Five) Thoughts

An arrow smith works diligently to make a perfect arrow.  So you must learn to watch your mind.  Like a fish thrown up onto the shore your mind flutters incessantly, desiring to be somewhere else.  Its ways are elusive.  Your mind does what it pleases so learn its ways and be attentive.  How happy you are in the moment when the mind is stilled and watchfulness pervades.

Guidebook explanation of card:  (Five) Thoughts:

Reduce your thoughts to objects and your mind will be less powerful.  Look for the arguments you always use, the defenses you create, and the clever way you see things.  Look for the ways in which you repeat yourself and the many times you try to tell someone how well you behave.  If you begin to laugh at yourself you have taken a huge step.

Watch the way you unconsciously move through your life and see yourself like a drunken driver of a car.  You are not in control and you are heading for disaster.  You can’t see where you’re going and the car has a mind of its own.  Why does this happen?  Are there patterns that repeat?  What are they and how do they set themselves up?  Where did you learn them and why do you not know how to stop?

The human mind is one of the most sophisticated mechanisms in existence and it is capable of such great things.  Allow yourself to become the master and kick that old drunk out of the driver’s seat.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE … activation card deck by Melissa Harris

I love affirmations and use “oracle” decks to provide a positive boost in the morning or whenever I need a lift.  It’s my way of telling the Universe I’m open to listening to their message:  “Have at it!”  “I’m listening!”  “Tell me more!”  I hope you enjoy as I introduce some of my favorite cards and quotes in my newsletters!  These make great gifts for any occasion as well as can be used as inspirational hand-outs in class if you are a yoga instructor.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE … activation card deck

I found this gem of a deck at the shop one of my favorite new age shops:  Mind Body & Spirit Gifts & Books in downtown St. Cloud, MN.  www.mindbodyspirit-online.com.  They carry stunning jewelry, stones & crystals, books & music, essential oils & herbs, candles & incense, unique gifts & artwork, Native American items, and relaxation & meditation CDs.  They also offer Intuitive/psychic readings, body & energy work, classes & workshops, and guest speakers!

I know you’ve all seen the art of Melissa Harris!  I’ve been in love with her art since I first laid eyes on the one I believe she calls the “Creatrix”.  Her artwork inspires the Goddess within.  I chose the “Creating Sacred Space” card since I referenced the subject a few times in this newsletter, and I chose “In Your Power” because it came from the “confidence” group and was where we all need to stand to gain confidence—another theme for this month.

In Your Power—key, center, confidence

Choose to stand firm, elegant, graceful, upright and centered in your power.  Allow your intuition to be your guide.  Know you are supported by the energy of the moon that amplifies your psychic abilities.  Ask yourself, “What am I really afraid of?”  Let the answer follow and heal your fear.  Know that you have within you all that you need to take any action or make the best choice for yourself right now. One of the keys to stepping fully into Creatrix energy is to stand in your power, experiencing the confidence that comes from connecting to the core of your being.  Trust the wise woman within you.  She holds all the answers.

Creating Sacred Space—initiation, meditation, receiving

Create a special private space for connecting with the core of your being and with Spirit.  In this space you may meditate, honor where you are now, give gratitude for the easy and the difficult, create intentions, pray and simply BE.  With this card you are being reminded to initiate time in sacred space for however you need to spend it.  You might enjoy creating altars incorporating the four elements using such items as feathers, special bowls for holy water, and candles.  In this space, quiet and undisturbed, honor all you have been given through the cycles of dark and light.

Description: For three decades artist Melissa Harris, MFA has combined her unique gifts as a clairvoyant with her artistic abilities in her paintings. CREATRIX Anything is Possible showcases the universal stories of women Melissa has gathered and archived in the thought-provoking art in this deck. These activation cards serve as a guide through 33 universal challenges women experience. Women can turn to this accessible tool for inspiration, contemplation, comfort, direction, exploration, or daily as a reminder that anything is possible. The cards are organized into four suits including invocation, grace, keys and initiation. The accompanying 48-page booklet includes definitions of each card written by Melissa with inventive ideas for divination and guidance spreads.

Kundalini Blessings Meditations for the Aquarian Age

I found these absolutely mesmerizing cards online.  It was one of those “synchronistically” connected searches that started somewhere and ended here.  I can’t even backtrack to give proper credit since I am the lucky recipient of many wonderful ezines and Facebook connections that could have led me there.  Suffice to say if it came to me that way, I know it was meant to come on my radar!  And I’m so glad that it did!

There is substantial information contained within the guide book for each card/mudra/mantra as well as excellent information on mantras and mudras in general. Since the deck contains many mudras, I used the “Guidance mudra” from the deck for the “Hand Mudra” of the month above.  I am only highlighting one card as described above and pictured here.

Description: KUNDALINI BLESSING ORACLE CARDS, from Gurudarshan Khalsa, offers a deck of 40 cards that can be used in conjunction with meditation and yoga practices to focus your energy toward aspects of your life that need attention. Each card features a topic to focus on, ranging from “Concentration” to “Insight” to “The Mystic.”

Shuffle the deck and choose one or more cards (if doing a spread). The 146-page guidebook helps you to interpret the cards and explains how to do the accompanying meditations. The book also details breathing patterns, mudras and in some cases mantras that can be chanted. The content is based on the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and shares technology to bring you to an elevated state of awareness in only 3 minutes.  Many Blessings to you!

You can buy your very own deck and the book of the same name at:  http://www.kundaliniblessings.com/ also see:  http://www.aquarianvision.com/

About the author: Aquarian Vision Photography (and Kundalini Blessings cards) offers the unique creative vision of Gurudarshan Khalsa.  Her photography represents the moments of God that are occurring with each inhale and exhale.  She is the professional photographer and go-to personal for all Kundalini Yoga photography because of her 30 years of experience and personal practice.  She is a Level 1 and Level 2 Kundalini Research Institute Teacher and is in the Aquarian Training Academy on her way to become a Teacher Trainer.  With this vast depth of experience, she understands the power and transformational aspects of Kundalini Yoga and knows how to capture her subject’s vibrational shifts, both inner and outer.  The ability to capture the essence of a person is seen in her portrait work.  She has taken this understanding of the subtle energies of life and unified it with her passion and love of Nature and Travel photography as well.  Photography holds the key to her deepest creative expression and she feels the greatest amount of peace and calm when her camera is in her hands.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

This is one of the recommended books from my first 200-hour yoga training through YogaFit®.  I loved it so much, I bought the deck of cards.  Since this month’s focus is on being present in the moment, what better deck than “The Power of Now” to enable us to do that?

Card #1: Backside says “The joy of being” (not shown).  Front side reads:  When the compulsive striving away from the now ceases, the joy of Being flows into everything you do.  The moment your attention turns to the Now, you feel a presence, a stillness, a peace.

Card #2: Backside says “Portals to the now” (not shown).  Front side reads:  Keep some of your attention within. Don’t let it all flow out.  Feel your whole body from within, as a single field of energy.  It is almost as if you were listening or reading with your whole body.  Let this be your practice in the days and weeks to come.

Description: For admirers of the bestselling The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle’s wisdom now comes in a highly accessible form — an elegant boxed set of color cards. Each inspirational card expresses a quotation from the book on one side and art on the other — to aid busy people with their daily meditations. Topics include discovering portals of the now, rising above thought, and transforming suffering into peace.

You can buy your very own deck and the book of the same name at:  http://eckharttolle.mybigcommerce.com/search.php?search_query=the+power+o

About the author: Eckhart is a spiritual teacher and author who was born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of 29, a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. Later, he began to work in London with individuals and small groups as a counselor and spiritual teacher. Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada. Eckhart Tolle is the author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers The Power of Now (translated into 33 languages) and the highly acclaimed follow-up A New Earth, which are widely regarded as two of the most influential spiritual books of our time.

Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue Ph.D.

Written by Sandy. Posted in: Featured Card Deck and Quote

This is one of the first decks of cards I bought from Doreen Virtue, PhD.   I’ve always had a fondness toward “the faerie realm”.  It was hard to pick my two favorite cards in this deck.  So I chose my wishes for you:

Card #1 Dreams Coming True

Card Meaning: Your heart’s desires are manifesting into reality.  The fairies ask you to hold fast to your faith and expect positive outcomes.

Good news!  The life you’ve been dreaming of is becoming a reality for you.  Your affirmations, prayers, visualizations, and other positive practices have brought your dreams to fruition.  Now, the fairies ask you to keep the faith.  At this moment, you may be seeing glimmers of your dreams coming true.  These dreams are transitioning from thought-form to etheric form, and then they’re solidifying into material form.

To make this transition successful and complete, your continued faith and prayers are needed.  As God and the fairies to help release you of any fears that could cause you to sabotage your success. Know that you deserve this new abundance, and that it will bring much joy to you and those in your life.

Affirmation:  My heart is filled with gratitude and excitement, knowing that wonderful people and situations surround me now.

Card #2 Moving Forward Fearlessly

Card Meaning: You are making big breakthroughs in your life by putting your Divinely inspired ideas into action.  Trust that you are guided each step of the way.

Those gut feelings, dreams and strong impulses you’ve been getting aren’t just examples of wishful thinking.  They represent the germination of new projects and situations that are vehicles for your Divine life mission.  Don’t ignore these gifts from heaven, which come on the wings of repetitive, strong thoughts and feelings.

The fairies ask you to honor your inner feelings by taking at least one step today in the direction of making your dreams and desires a reality.  Fearlessly take one step to dismantle any part of your life that is out of integrity.  Take another step toward realizing your heart’s desire.  Even a tiny step that is remotely related to improving your life will make you feel that you’re soaring with the fairy realm.  Keep taking one step a day, and soon your dream will be a reality.

Affirmation:  I move forward fearlessly, trusting that each step I take is perfectly guided.

Description: Booklet and 44-card deck inspired by the book of the same name.  Fairies are nature’s powerful guardian angels, and they can miraculously assist you with your self-esteem, relationships, health, and career. The fairies will help you find new inner strength and confidence, and guide you in treating yourself with greater love and respect.

We’ve talked about the heart being “a key intuitive center, responding even to information about the future” and intuition developing more strongly with the opening of the heart chakra.  This deck is another deck by Shakti Gawain on Developing Intuition.  (I highlighted her Creative Visualization deck back in my May 2010 newsletter).  As I mentioned in May, Shakti Gawain is an author I’ve admired for over twenty years.  I own many of her works, and have not been disappointed by one of them.

As I reviewed the deck for which cards to highlight here, I was drawn to the ones that talk about checking in with the body since that is exactly what I tell my yoga students.

Description:

Card #1: Checking in with yourself each day can be extremely powerful.  You don’t need much time.  With practice you can learn to quickly and easily drop out of your mind and into a deeper place inside.

Card #2: Inner guidance can come in the form of words, mental images, or feeling impressions.  You may feel a radiant warmth, or sense energy flowing through you.

You can buy your very own deck at:  http://janetboyer.com/Developing_Intuition_Cards.html
This site also has samples of other cards for you to peak at!  Fun site!

This deck is from her book of the same name which you can purchase from her wonderful Website:  http://www.shaktigawain.com/products/books/developing-intuition-practical-guidance-everyday-life.

I purchased this book at the Edge Expo a few years ago in Minneapolis, MN at the
Intentional Serenity booth.  I chose the two examples to highlight since they resonate with topics I covered in this month’s newsletter—releasing attachment to the results of your actions when you’ve done your best, and how meditation can help you remember what your heart already knows is your path.

Since the photos turned out a bit blurry, I’ll repeat their quotes here for ease of reference:
Card 1: To reach out with love, to do your best and not be so concerned with results or outcomes—that’s the way to live. Flip side to Card 1: I release any attachment to the results of my good actions.  Card 2: Your heart knows the path to happiness and inner peace.  Spiritual practices such as meditation and prayer remind you of what you already know.  Flip side to Card 2: I already know how to achieve happiness.

Enjoy!

Water Crystal Oracle

I love affirmations and use “oracle” decks to provide a positive boost in the morning or whenever I need a lift. It’s my way of telling the Universe I’m open to listening to their message: “Have at it!” “I’m listening!” “Tell me more!” I hope you enjoy as I introduce some of my favorite cards and quotes in my newsletters! These make great gifts for any occasion as well as can be used as inspirational hand-outs in class if you are a yoga instructor.

Since this month’s chakra focus is on grounding.  I chose this deck, Water Crystal Oracle, for its connection to Earth energy and how our thoughts affect that connection.  Our thoughts affect our bodies.  This season is filled with hope and prayer, the two cards I feature from the deck.  Enjoy.

Have you seen the movie, “What the Bleep Do We Know?” Dr. Masaru Emoto was highlighted in this movie:

Dr. Emoto exposed music, words spoken, words typed, pictures and videos to Water.  After, it was crystallized.  The Water’s response was truly majestic.  The card deck highlighted this month shows photos of the crystallized water.  As the YouTube excerpt highlights:  “Water makes up 70 percent of our bodies.  If thoughts can do that to Water, imagine what our thoughts can do to us.”

I purchased one deck and use them in my refrigerator—yes you heard me.  I put them under my clear glass bottles containing juice, etc., to energize what goes into our bodies.

Description: The sounds of words and their effect on water crystals is nothing less than a divine gift from nature. When water is frozen, the crystals reveal the concentrated thoughts directed toward them. Water is a medium that receives and understands even the subtlest vibrations. Water captures vibrations naturally. Even when these vibrations are in characters, or letters representing language, water shows us the energy they contain in the forms of crystals. Water is attempting to communicate something to us. Negative emotions prevent the water from crystallizing. Positive emotions allow it to develop in beautiful hexagonal shapes. Water crystals are illustrating this divine gift in their design and the Water Crystal Oracle card deck provides access to this power.

As a companion to the best-selling book Hidden Messages in Water, the Water Crystal Oracle includes forty-eight beautiful water crystal images to enhance your life and balance your well being in many ways. In this deck there are forty-eight cards featuring Emoto’s dramatic photographs divided into four sets of twelve each:

· Healing Cards · Wisdom Cards · Power Cards · Earth Cards

Use the Water Crystal Oracle to amplify your positive thoughts and feelings and bring to yourself the qualities and emotions you desire.

Karma Cards, Amy Zerner and Monte Farber

Written by Sandy. Posted in: Featured Card Deck and Quote

I’ve owned this deck of cards since before we moved to Minneapolis over 16 years ago. I’m not one to consult astrology regularly, but take what is presented to me and use what resonates with me, leaving the rest. I mean, haven’t we all read our daily horoscope in the newspaper wondering what the message means?

Since earlier I made reference to my gypsy Halloween costume from childhood and the magic of telling the future and fortune-telling, I pulled out one of my oldest and only deck of cards involving astrology. I wasn’t sure how to pick a sample here since it’s not the kind of deck you pick a “favorite” from. So I decided to do my own quick “reading”. I asked whether or not I should keep adding new locations to teach yoga from. (I currently have three locations and am looking at another.) It’s uncanny how the cards that popped up fit. Perhaps that’s part of the charm of these cards. You decide.

You have three kinds of cards: Planets, Signs, and Houses. You pull one from each kind and lay them out in that order and they create a sentence for you pertaining to your question. If you are looking for an outcome answer, you use the blue panels. If you are looking for an action answer, you use the red panels. The panels offer answers on three levels: Spiritual, Mental, and Physical. Here’s my “red” action reading for those three categories respectively.

Stir up the situation by using your highest ideals as a life or death issue. (Spiritual)

Be open to new ideas about the rules of getting and using power. (Mental)

Invent a way to get it out to the world and use other people’s resources. (Physical)

Okay, well they all hit home for me with the physical one being a “head on the nail” hit. Guess that answers that! So I’m getting an “all systems go” answer here to “get it out to the world and use other people’s resources.” So yes, keep adding other locations!

Description: A perceptive guide to the future that is guaranteed to entertain, amuse, and enlighten. Shuffle the cards, pick one from each of three decks representing the Planets, Signs, and Houses, place them side by side, and read across to get answers to questions about future love, career, and financial moves. 36 shrink-wrapped cards with comprehensive instruction booklet.

You can buy your very own deck at: Karma Cards: A New Age Guide to Your Future through Astrology

Trust Your Vibes deck by Sonia Choquette

Written by Sandy. Posted in: Featured Card Deck and Quote
Comments Off on Trust Your Vibes deck by Sonia Choquette Tagged with

I love affirmations and use “oracle” decks to provide a positive boost in the morning or whenever I need a lift. It’s my way of telling the Universe I’m open to listening to their message: “Have at it!” “I’m listening!” “Tell me more!” I hope you enjoy as I introduce some of my favorite cards and quotes in my newsletters! These make great gifts for any occasion as well as can be used as inspirational hand-outs in class if you are a yoga instructor.

Today’s newsletter chakras focus on the ability to take risks, to trust your decisions, and not be afraid to take action on them. One of my absolute favorite authors is Sonia Choquette. She has written many books about developing your own sixth sense and trusting your vibes. She is my go-to author for connecting to my “higher self” and letting that voice out (fifth chakra!). This month’s featured deck is called “Trust Your Vibes” with “tools for awakening your sixth sense”.

About the deck: Take the guesswork out of your decisions and use your sixth sense instead! This powerful card deck by vibrational healer and revolutionary teacher Sonia Choquette, the author of Diary of a Psychic and Trust Your Vibes, is designed to activate your psychic voice and show you how to live the six-sensory life. Each of the 52 cards in this deck is a creative tool for using your psychic muscles. These cards will give you access to your Divine support system and deepen your connection to God, your Higher Self, and spirit helpers from the Other Side.

Use the card deck and the accompanying guidebook daily, and you’ll learn to trust your vibes and experience the ease and flow of six-sensory living.

Connecting to your higher self is connecting to your intuition. In the opening section I ask if you are having trouble finding your purpose. In the Chakrascope section I mention “taking one small step” and that knowing what that one small step will be is up to you. Listening to your heart, your higher self; and trusting your decisions—perhaps faking it until you make it—is the way to do that. Here’s a couple of fun ways to do that:

I am only showing the message side of the two cards highlighted here. The back side of the cards shows a beautiful drawing of a flying heart with wings and two shadows of face profiles facing each other below the heart.

The readings below are from the accompanying Guidebook for each card’s message.

Card No. 34: Make a Note of it

“You may be intercepting vibrations from your guides regularly, but having the confidence to trust your vibes fully may still be a challenge. Don’t worry. Trusting your vibes takes time. With a little extra effort, however, you can accelerate the process and not miss a single golden nugget of guidance from your Higher Self. The way to strengthen your confidence and better receive guidance is to carry a small notebook throughout the day and write down every vibe you get, no matter how subtle, including hunches, inspiration, bright ideas, wonderings, vague notions, and many others. The more you write down your vibes, the more tuned in to them you’ll become. You’ll also have a mass of concrete evidence that they’re real, accurate, and trustworthy. This does wonders for your confidence and increases your psychic awareness at the same time. Try this for a week and see for yourself.

Card No. 45: Fake It Till You Make It

A terrific way to access your sixth sense immediately and get your psychic engines up and running is to apply my favorite psychic rule: Fake it till you make it! That’s right. Pretend you’re psychic and trust your vibes implicitly. Give it a try. If you were psychic, what would your vibes tell you about your health, your business, your relationships, your love life, and especially about what you want to know right now? Let your imagination run wild and tap directly in to your psychic system and set your vibes free. You can take this a step further and invent a secret self, a psychic persona, a six-sensory genius who speaks through you when called upon. Have fun with her (or him) and give her (or him) an exotic name like The Wizard, Dr. Know, or simply Genie. (Note from Sandy : My favorite Halloween costume growing up was of a gypsy…guess what my name for my “psychic persona” is…makes me smile.)

Anytime you want to tap in to your vibes, pretend that you’re incredibly psychic and allow your inner psychic to speak. Don’t think twice about what you’ll say—just make it up. But do listen, because even when pretending you tap into your sixth sense. It doesn’t matter how you open the door to your inner voice, as long as you do open it. Fake it till you make it work—and enjoy!

As I pulled out my many, many books on Nature and connecting with Nature via plants, animal totems, and the environment, I knew that this month’s featured deck should be my Native American cards.  Which one to highlight?  Yes – I have more than one.  Literally just as I was pondering this question, I ran across the suggestion by Jamie Sams that you can combine the following two decks he was part of creating.  Ok, I’m listening.  So this month we have two decks.

Sacred Path Cards, The Discovery of Self Through Native Teachings:

This extraordinary tool for self-discovery draws on the strength and beauty of Native American spiritual tradition. Developed by Native American medicine teacher Jamie Sams, this unique system distills the essential wisdom of the sacred teachings of many tribal traditions and shows users the way to transform their lives.

The 44 beautifully illustrated cards, each endowed with a particular meaning and message, may be drawn individually for a daily lesson or laid out in a series of spreads that open up different paths to inner knowledge. Used with the accompanying text, which explains the various forms and methods of interpretation and divination, the cards are a powerful tool for enhanced self-awareness and positive change.

The back of both of these decks aren’t something I’m going to show this month.  The Sacred Path Cards show the image of a Zuni Sun, and the Medicine Card deck shows a lightning bolt strike image on the back of each card.

5, Standing People, Roots/Giving:  I chose this card for emphasis on trees and their giving nature—something I’ve experiences first-hand, as discussed in my opening.  There are six pages on the meaning of this card in the accompanying book. I’ve chosen to highlight only a few brief points, and then the application.

The Standing People, the trees, are our Sisters and Brothers.  They are the Chiefs of the planet kingdom.  The Cherokee teach that the Standing People and all of the plant kingdom are the givers who constantly provide for the needs of others.  Some trees bear fruit and some provide healing on the emotional or physical level.  Walking in Balance can be achieved through remembering our roots, the only physical tree-part we are lacking as humans. The Standing People teach us how to run our roots deep into the Earth to receive spiritual nurturing as well as the reconnective energy that keeps our bodies healthy.  Without the roots we lose Earth-Connection and can no longer Walk in Balance.

The Application:  The Standing People card speaks to us of roots and giving.  We must nurture ourselves through connection to the Earth in order to give freely without exhaustion.  The root of the Self is where strength is gathered.  Without this connection, dreams cannot manifest and our giving cannot be compensated by the Earth Mother.  If you are spaced out, stop and reconnect.

Be still and become the trees in order to observe what is growing in your forest.  The root of every answer for physical life is found in the Earth.  Look to your family tree for the strength offered by your Ancestors. Lift your branches high, seeking the light of Grandfather Sun and you will see how your roots make you of the Earth and yet a bridge to the Sky World.

The Standing People are asking you to give of yourself.  Ask yourself if you are willing to give and receive.  Count the root of every blessing with gratitude.  Find any blockage that limits your root system or ability to go deeper.  Then remove that feeling and go deeper once again for the answers you seek.  Remember that we are also the root of the future and through our lives, future generations are nurtured.  Weed out anything that will inhibit future growth and you can stand proud among your Tree Relations.

Medicine Cards, The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals:

The wildly popular Medicine Cards has been a bestseller since its release in 1988. The new, expanded edition was released in late July of 1999 by St. Martin’s press. The Medicine Cards package contains an expanded text in a hardback book and a set of beautifully illustrated cards with the messages of 52 animals rather than the former 44 animals. The Medicines of the new animals teach us the evolving life-lessons that we need to embrace as human beings facing the new millennium and our continued healing processes. Nature is reaching out to us to lend a hand and the creatures are offering us a way to grow beyond our former identities. The additional animals include: Prairie Dog, Wild Boar, Blue Heron, Salmon, Alligator, Black Panther, Jaguar, and Raccoon. The authors are happy to add to the joy felt by millions across the globe who have reaped benefits from the guidance of these animals and their wisdom.

30, Rabbit:   I chose this card because it represents an animal seen fairly frequently, and sincerely loved, by my husband and I around our neighborhood—okay so perhaps they could have left our Tiger Lily flowers alone.  I suspect the same is true for many of you.  I’ve chosen to highlight only the lesson out of the three and one-half pages in the companion book.

One note on animal totems as I understand it:  Every time you see an animal, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are your totem or have a message.  You’ll know it when they are meant to bring a message.  One year at the Renaissance Festival a dragonfly was flying around my head.  I bent around and down toward the ground to get it out of my way.  When I rose back up to standing, the dragonfly was literally staring at me nose-to-nose!  THAT was a definite message to me!  You’ll know, be it subtle or not.  Now for the Rabbit:

If you pulled Rabbit, stop talking about horrible things happening and get rid of “what if” in your vocabulary.  This card may signal a time of worry about the future or of trying to exercise your control over that which is not yet in form—the future.  Stop now!  Write your fears down and be willing to feel them.  Breathe into them, and feel them running through your body into Mother Earth as a give-away.

If you pulled this card in the “contrary” position, i.e., upside down, the paralyzed feeling which Rabbit experiences when being stalked is the lesson.  If you have tried to resolve a situation in your life and are unable to, you may be feeling frozen in motion.  This could indicate a time to wait for the forces of the universe to start moving again.  It could also indicate the need to stop and take a rest.  It will always indicate a time when you need to re-evaluate the process you are undergoing, and to rid yourself of any negative feelings, barriers, or duress.  Simply put, you cannot have your influence felt until you rearrange your way of seeing the present set of circumstances.

There is always a way out of any situation, because the Universal Force does move on.  It is the way in which you handle the problem that allows you to succeed.

Take a hint from Rabbit.  Burrow into a safe space to nurture yourself and release your fears until it is time again to move into the pasture, clear of prowlers who want a piece of your juicy energy.

I love to be “self-empowered”. This month’s deck of cards is called “Empowerment Cards For Inspired Living.” They’re by Tavis Smiley. I picked this gem up at the Minneapolis Edge Life Expo held in November each year. http://www.edgelife.net/Edge_Life_Expo_Mpls_10/main.html (Fun stuff!).

You can buy your very own at: http://www.hayhouse.com/details.php?id=2253

Description: Expanding on the themes that connect us all, talk-show host and author Tavis Smiley pours his passion and commitment for promoting positive change into these 70 personalized empowerment cards. Tavis’s words of introspection, wisdom, and encouragement will help you to think and decide critically, enabling you to improve both your own life and the lives of those in your family and community. Keep the Faith!

Back of card text: I chose “Build” and “Real” to go with the theme of my newsletter this month—Surrounding yourself with positive, supportive people to strengthen yourself. (That’s the message behind the “Build” card.) And not overestimating what many would like us to consider “reality”—our body’s lessening ability to heal as we get older. The “Real” card says to empower your creative mind to defy logic. That message hit home for me as a way to defy the so-called “logic” of a body that slowly quits healing itself as we age. THAT is not self-empowering!
